Work and Study at the Same Time is Tiring but Helpful

Since second semester, i was working internship here and eventually received a return offer. However, I continued exploring other opportunities because I wanted a bilingual, global role where I could use English and work with international teams. I eventually found the role that matched my career goals.

I had many interviews and often found that my skills matched the positions well, but the language requirement became a challenge, and I didn’t pass some interviews because of it. It was also difficult to find roles that offered bilingual working environment.

I didn’t give up even though language barriers limited some of my opportunities. I kept going to interviews, learning from each experience, and looking for roles that matched my strengths. Since I had already gained long-term work experience in Taiwan during my study, I secured an offer before graduation. This gave me the confidence to keep exploring until I found a role that I truly liked.

I originally come from a finance background, so I really enjoy that my current role combines finance with a global environment. I work with different regions and get to understand how the global business chain works. I learn a lot from different cross functional teams and business environments, and I’m happy that I can build a stable career in Taiwan while still having an international working environment.

Based on my experiences, my suggestions to the current GMBA students is: If you want to work in Taiwan after graduation, I recommend getting an internship experience while studying. It will be helpful for you. I worked and studied at the same time, it was tiring tho but helped me understand the work culture, improve my mandarin and open the new doors.
